While many think of health in isolated categories, we can no longer afford to ignore the arc between agricultural production and health. AgriLife Extension is uniquely positioned to make this critical connection and educate both producers and consumers on what it means to them.
Dr. Rick Machen is professor and animal and natural resource management Extension specialist stationed at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Uvalde, Texas. Machen is also a member of the animal nutrition section in the Department of Animal Science. He received his bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University and his master’s and doctorate from Texas A&M University.
Machen coordinates Extension educational activities related to natural resource management and livestock production for the Texas Hill Country and Southwest Texas. He works closely with county Extension agents and tax appraisal districts to educate and inform small acreage, novice and absentee landowners on the merits of natural resource stewardship. http://animalscience.tamu.edu/facultystaff/faculty/dr-rick-machen/
